A Message from the President
Dear Members, Friends, and Colleagues…
It is with tremendous pride and a deep sense of purpose that I welcome you to the new digital home of the Uganda Sociological and Anthropological Association – our new website.
For too long, our association has worked tirelessly behind the scenes; building community, advancing the profession, and advocating for the rightful place of sociology and anthropology in Uganda's national development agenda without a space online that truly reflected the breadth and importance of our work. Today, that changes.
This website is more than a digital brochure. It is a platform for connection, a repository of professional knowledge, and a gateway for the thousands of sociologists and anthropologists across Uganda and the diaspora who may not yet know that a professional home exists for them; a home called USAA.
Since our founding in 2006 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, we have grown in membership, expanded our ambitions, and deepened our resolve to serve our members and society at large. Our association has been a voice for professional standards, a convener of critical conversations, and a bridge between Uganda's social science community and the wider world. Yet we have always known that to do more, we needed to reach more people. This website is a central part of how we will achieve that.
Through these pages, I invite prospective members to join us, current members to engage more deeply, partners to collaborate with us, and the wider public to appreciate the vital role that sociologists and anthropologists play in building a just, informed, and resilient Uganda.
The work ahead is significant. We are growing our membership base, formalizing our accreditation mechanisms, strengthening our standing committees, and building the institutional foundation that will carry USAA forward for generations. Your engagement as a member, a volunteer, a sponsor, or simply a reader is what makes all of this possible.
Welcome to our new home. Let us build something extraordinary, together. With warm regards and professional solidarity,
Mr. Titus James Twesige
President, Uganda Sociological and Anthropological Association (USAA)
